Hello, and welcome to CameronWeckerley.com. Here, you will find samples of work from where I have been, as well as current offerings from on-going projects.
I moved to Santa Fe, NM, in September of 2009, with my wife and our furry family. Before that move, I lived most of my life in the central valley of California, with a brief stint in Phoenix, AZ. We have made Santa Fe our new home and look forward to watching the seasons change for years to come.
My academic qualifications include an M.A. in Music Theory and Composition from Truman State University and a Bachelor's in Music Education from Olivet College. Additionally, I have studied jazz performance, composition and music theory extensively at California State University, Bakersfield, and Berklee College of Music.
In 13 years of teaching experience I have taught at the University, Community College, and High School levels in different parts of the country. My last teaching assignment, which I held for 10 years, was in the field of Media Arts in an alternative education environment. This experience brought me into contact with the widest variety of student cultural populations and educational backgrounds.
Although my academic field of study is music theory/composition and piano, much of my career has been devoted to multi-media applications, such as sequencing, digital audio recording, notation software, and video. As a published author and photographer, I have considerable experience in the print and web publishing industry. Examples include several years of freelancing for Friction Zone Magazine as well as Bakersfield Magazine.
I have been involved in the music industry for 25 years and maintain working relationships with industry professionals. Since 1984 I have worked on a contract basis with Ferenci Music, a professional film and production studio in Los Angeles. The knowledge and experience gained there allowed me to set up two successful music technology programs from the ground up.
At Bakersfield College I was responsible for creating the curriculum, buying the equipment, and setting up the music technology program, along with the associated lab. Similarly, while working for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, I set up a similar program for the at-risk youth, alternative education program. During the years the program was active, the students won several state-wide awards, most notably from the department of traffic safety, with their safe driving songs and raps.
